While I'm waiting for Jake to get out of class, I decided I could update the world on what is going on in our little world. I can't remember if we've mentioned it before, but the night that we left for Hawaii we moved out of our tiny apartment and into my Brother's basement. I don't want to even go into how stressful that was. Let's just say my Dad's inconsiderateness only gave Jake and I about 5 hours in 2 days to get everything we ever owned moved from Sugarhouse to South Jordan. (for people who don't know Utah it's about a 40 min drive each way) Not Ideal. So yeah, no sleep that night. Off to Vegas we went! Needless to say we were a pathetic bunch walking off the plane when we landed in Hawaii. Coming home to nothing but boxes and a mattress on the ground was all but welcoming. OK I'm stressing out just thinking about it. (There's a reason I've had a stroke already, my stress levels are out of control!) We've really enjoyed living with Nick and Katie and the kids. For me, at least it makes me feel somewhat social. I don't think you'll meet bigger homebodies and hermits. I think a good majority of our friends have become acquaintances. Sad I know. Just being real. It has definitely reminded me what a house with kids sounds like... as much as I love coming home to this after work
I think we're good waiting just a little bit longer to start our own family. I'm learning to cherish the quiet while I still have it. They are really easy to live with and I love playing with the kids, but they'll leave us alone if we tell them to go away. :) Uncle and Aunt of the year!
Since moving I have picked up running... and have also dropped running. That lasted a whole month. GO ME! I've also moved from Dispatch and am now in the accounting department. Mostly working on and helping with payroll and some AR. I absolutely love it. No longer babysitting old guys! The hours are not the greatest. 7 am should not be a time to start work. I wish I was a morning person, but I'm the farthest from it. Getting off work around 5:30 is not ideal either, but with Jake usually in class, I really don't mind. I'm not going to complain about the overtime.

In case you couldn't tell this is Jake holding up his acceptance letter into UVU. (email of course) We thought we'd take a time out from Grey's Anatomy and document this momentous occasion, which was then followed by a small dance party. (don't even act like having a dance party with just you and your husband is weird... you're weird) That's right everyone. After this semester Jacob Josef Hommes will no longer be a student at LDSBC. He will be a full on UVU student. (hence the move south, or as far south as I would agree to) Yeah it may not be THAT exciting but we are happy about the change. I'm also so proud of Jake. He's been going to school more than full time and working full time since we've been married. His grades are awesome and he works so hard for our future family. I can't even describe how grateful I am to him and everything he does. I'm so lucky!
And one more thing. We now have a calling in our new ward to be primary teachers. Not surprised sense there are over a billion kids just on our street. {slight exaggeration} Our class has awesome little 6/7 year olds. Really well behaved and funny kids. I'm excited. Sunday callings are always the best. Having to do anything during the week is just not going to happen with us. On that note my favorite person just got home so I'm going to hang out with him until I pass out and wake up for work. Good night!

Jen you are awesome! I love reading your blog! We are so similar...I have become quite the homebody too. I would rather sit on the couch and watch my tv shows then go out with friends. Pathetic! haha I am glad there are other people out there like me :)-Malorie
ReplyDeleteThat is one good looking (if not slightly outgrown) dragon. Who wouldn't want to come home to that? We're glad you're here.
