Some Great Music with a Great Gal

Hello Everyone!
Well, my NCAA Basketball bracket is officially busted but on a better note my BYU Cougs are moving on to the Sweet Sixteen. With all these bitter sweet feelings going on I decided to blog.

Something wonderful happened about a week ago...my wife discovered the lyrical and poetic greatness of Joshua James. Her and I went to his concert downtown and basically came to tears with his music. For those of you who don't know Joshua James, I'd highly recommend him. A little story about him; about six years ago I lived down in Provo while going to school. During that time I worked at a place I like to call Hell for minimum wage calling strangers all day trying to sell them mortgages. The only thing that made it bearable for my brother and I while we were working there was a nice guy that sat next to me named Joshua James. We would talk to each other all the time and started a pretty nice friendship. He would tell me how he's starting up a band and I would go to many of his tiny apartment shows and parties with him. After I finally quit that job and went on my mission I never kept in touch with him. Then one day years later I was sitting in a Wendy's restaurant and a song started to play...it was Joshua James. Now maybe it was the great music mixed with my spicy chicken sandwich but I had a smile on my face. Not too sure where that story was going but Josh has really made a name for himself and he has become one of my wife and I's favorite artists.

I've always loved his music and tried to talk him up to others but nothing does him justice unless you see him live in concert. With every song you are moved by the emotion and the universal themes of family, friendship, love and pain. His voice is truly haunting and powerful all at once and I'm so happy Jen has been converted. We made it a goal to go to all of his shows whenever he is in town.

Here are some pictures

Waiting for the show to start

Fantastic show

And thus ends my blog post.

  1. Curt and I really like him too. I actually saw him like two weeks ago at Barnes and Noble. I was going to say hi, but chickened out. :)
