Happy day of LOVE!

I know I'm a day early but I don't really have much time to blog on a Monday. So Happy Valentines Day tomorrow. Or Singles Awareness Day... Whichever you celebrate. Either way you shouldn't knock Feb. 14th. You either get to be really mooshy lovie dovie with your man/women or get a really good reason to get together with your girlfriends. Win-Win right? Or you can take the time to think about all the things you love in your life! ie: Moms, Dads, Friends, Pets, Sunsets, a good Book, etc. As for Jake and I, we don't really get into the holiday. We see it as a wonderful excuse to make dinner reservations and go out to eat. Yes yes we're aware that we do that often... It's excellent. However, lately I've been really getting into crafting and baking... Maybe not so much baking since I have nothing really to bake for and I don't want to just have sweets sitting around the house tempting me. So this year I found Valentines day a great excuse to get crafty. Am I a crafty person? Nope but I'm trying to be... one little tiny project at a time. Here are the 2 things I've worked on this year.

Cheesy But I ♥

I wanted to think of something to do with all the leftover picture frames we have from our wedding so I came up with this little display... it was really easy to do. I just found a font I liked on the computer and printed it out and used it as a stencil on some cardboard. I used 2 different sizes to give it a 3D effect. (I'm still learning to use my camera so its a little blurry and you can't really see the 3Dness of it but yeah) Then I painted the cardboard red and then brushed on some glue and covered it all in red glitter! I'm happy with the way it turned out. Just glue them on to some scrap paper and voila! Note: glitter is pretty, but not fun to work with and not fun to clean... you would think I'd know this by now but I didn't. And because our apartment is so tiny I did it all in our kitchen so I'm pretty sure we had some red glitter show up in our food. Sorry Jake.
Next I made this!

Don't mind the wrinkly Couch cover.

My beautiful Red Burlap Wreath!

I happened to find a tutorial for this on Whipperberry and fell in love! I love the texture and look of it and the Red! oh the red is so so pretty and bright... again my camera skills sadly do not do it justice. This is my current pride and joy for right now... A wonderful example of how uncrafty I am... This is not really hard to make(just time consuming) but I couldn't be prouder of myself! I think it's so pretty and not too cheesy for Valentines day. (and it works for christmas too!) You can find the tutorial Here. I got together with my sister-in-law Katie last week and we made our own wreathes... I wish I had a picture of hers. But I ran out of time and had to leave before either of us could finish. She made 3 pink and brown heart wreathes made out of fabric and tied them all together with ribbon. Hers turned our super cute. I think we need to make it a monthly or bimonthly thing.

Hopefully I can get around to doing a lot more projects. I have so many ideas I want to do. Especially with Burlap!  My next project?

This beautiful Burlap and Blue lamp I saw on mamasayssew. While cleaning and renovating my grandma's house I found the perfect shaped lamp and shade. Needless to say I can't wait until it's a little warmer outside so I can pull out the spray paint and get to work.

So a very Roundabout way of saying it... This Valentine's day I love (other than my Husband because that is a given) Crafting!
Especially Crafting with Burlap.
Love, Jen
